Thom Stevenson:
Certified Music Recording Studio Engineer

Thom was accepted into the Music Education program at East Carolina University, where he planned on studying to become an orchestra director (after mastering several musical instruments - guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, cello, violin, viola, mandolin and drums.) However, after one semester, he decided to leave and pursue a career in recording engineering.

Thom has been recording his own music since the age of 13, originally using the Sound Recorder on his parents PC, or two tape decks and a microphone (for those complex multi-track projects), progressing to a four-track tape deck, then a digital 8-track, and now to a Pro Tools LE System and more microphones than he knows what to do with.

Thom applied, was accepted, and attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS) in Tempe, Arizona from October 2004 until he graduated in May 2005. At CRAS, he received a 210M Level Certification from Digidesign, making him a Professional Pro Tools Operator for both LE and TDM (HD) Systems. Other certifications include the Lexicon M3000 Reverb Processor and SIA Smart Audio Analysis Software, just to name a couple. He is proficient and has mastery of at least 200 audio plug-ins, including the industry standard Antares AutoTune 4. Additionally, he interned at Crystalphonic Recording Studios in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Thom is the owner and creator of Optimistic Audio.
